Ill Striker Jorgen Strand Larsen Isolated Ahead of Norway's Clash with Iraq
Last night, the Norwegian national team touched down in Boston, and on Monday evening, they held their inaugural training session at the training ground in Foxborough, Massachusetts. However, Jorgen Strand Larsen was noticeably absent from the squad as he battles a fever in the lead-up to the pivotal match against Iraq.
"He has caught some fever," stated national team coach Stale Solbakken. "It's Ola Sand's (doctor) responsibility, but he wasn't present during training or meal times, so he'll probably receive his food in his room today," Solbakken added.
National team doctor Ola Sand informed NRK.no that Strand Larsen initially exhibited symptoms on Sunday, which unfortunately intensified by Monday morning. Sand revealed that the striker traveled at the back of the plane to Boston while wearing a face mask, and he is now quarantined in his own room.
When discussing the 26-year-old's potential impact on Norway's campaign later in the tournament, Solbakken remarked:
"I spoke to him today. It's not like he's terminally ill, because if that were the case, we wouldn't have brought him here. So I'm hopeful he'll be ready to play tomorrow."
The remainder of the Norwegian squad is in excellent form and primed to face Iraq on June 17 at 00:00 CET.
