Cape Verde's Coach Bubista Declares 'Nothing is Impossible' After Advancing from Group Stage

The third-smallest team by population in the history of the competition, Cape Verde, secured a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Saudi Arabia in Houston, finishing as runners-up in their group.

This remarkable achievement has set the stage for a thrilling encounter against the formidable Argentina on July 3 in Miami.

"To us, nothing is impossible," declared Cape Verde's coach, Bubista, who entered the press conference proudly wrapped in his nation's flag.

"We, along with the people of Cape Verde, have every reason to be proud of what this team has accomplished," he continued, emphasizing the collective pride felt back home.

Cape Verde, an archipelago located off the west coast of Africa, boasts a population of just over 500,000, many of whom stayed up late into the night to cheer on their team from afar.

"First and foremost, we are honored to face Argentina," Bubista remarked, highlighting that his squad, currently ranked 67th in the world, managed to draw all three of their group matches.

This included an astonishing 0-0 draw against European champions Spain in their inaugural World Cup match.

"For our team, our players, and all of our supporters, this is a moment of great joy," he added, reflecting on the significance of their performance.

"From the very start, our goal has been to showcase our country to the world."

"Playing against Argentina and Messi in this stage is a tremendous opportunity for our nation, regardless of the outcome," he noted with enthusiasm.

Bubista encouraged other so-called underdogs to draw inspiration from his team's unexpected success.

"We not only represent our country, but we also stand for Africa. More importantly, we symbolize small nations across the globe," he stated passionately.

"This is our mission. We are living proof that with focus and determination, one can reach their goals, sooner or later."
