Isak Hien Out for the World Cup Due to Hamstring Injury
Sweden is set to battle France in the round of 32 after advancing as one of the eight best third-placed teams. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old defender Isak Hien will not be available for coach Graham Potter.
"Isak has suffered a significant injury to his left hamstring, and as a result, he will not be able to participate any further in the World Cup," announced national team doctor Jonas Werner in a statement released by the Swedish Football Association (SvFF) on Friday.
"He will return to his club, and this injury will keep him away from football for some time."
Coach Potter expressed his support for Hien during this challenging time.
"It's incredibly sad for him to have to conclude his World Cup journey in this manner due to injury, and we will do everything possible to support him during his recovery," he stated.
"It’s heartbreaking for him, but I have no doubt he will return even stronger."
